Dillon Clausner
Dillon Clausner
Daniel “Dillon” Clausner Jr. has worked as an International Student and Scholar Advisor at UNC Charlotte since December 2019. After graduating with a BA from Northwestern University, he served in the U.S. Peace Corps for 2 years in Cambodia. During the Peace Corps, Dillon was overawed by the warm welcome that Cambodians extended to him, and vowed to pursue a career where he could extend a similar welcome to those coming to the United States for work or study.
Back in the United States, Dillon worked for 5 years as a Visa Counselor at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) before coming to UNC Charlotte. His favorite parts of this career path include: helping international students and scholars achieve their educational and career goals in the U.S., meeting people from all over the world every day (“it’s like traveling without leaving home”), and in general helping to add to the rich fabric of American life by supporting non-immigrant and immigrant migration.
Dillon holds a Master’s degree from Cornell University and is pursuing a part-time PhD program at UNC Charlotte (Go Niners!) in his non-work hours. He speaks German, Spanish, and Cambodian, is learning Italian, studied abroad at Trinity College in Ireland, and has traveled to over 40 countries.
