Other important factors to keep in mind if you are planning to begin a program during a summer term:
Funding:
Check with your Academic Department for information about funding for a summer term. Generally, Academic Departments do not offer funding support for the summer term, and students admitted for a summer term must be prepared to pay the full cost of their summer studies immediately upon arrival.
Check In & Orientation:
F-1 students admitted for summer must check in at the ISSO after arrival in the U.S. At your check in, the ISSO will review your visa & travel documents to ensure that they are correct. Students arriving for a summer term should review the Orientation section of our website. If possible, students admitted for a summer term should also attend in-person orientation events occurring in the Fall semester, as these events can help any new student make valuable social connections and learn where to get support on campus.
